Who We Are: Glassjaw, Post-Hardcore from Long Island
We're Glassjaw, a post-hardcore band from Long Island, New York. Here's the short version of where we come from, and how this merch fits in.
Where did Glassjaw start?
Glassjaw started in the summer of 1993 in Hempstead, on Long Island. Daryl Palumbo (vocals) and Justin Beck (guitar) met at camp, and the band grew from there. Daryl and Justin have written our music and lyrics ever since.
Where does the name come from?
There's no hidden meaning. We tried a list of names, and Glassjaw stuck because it just sounded cool. Along the way it was also written xGlassjawx and The Glassjaw, before it settled as one word.
What do we sound like?
Post-hardcore. You'll also see us filed under alternative metal, and early on some people called it nu metal.
Who's in the band?
The lineup has changed a lot over the years. Today it's:
- Daryl Palumbo: vocals
- Justin Beck: guitar, keyboards and bass in the studio
- Chad Hasty: drums, since 2015
Cody Hosza has played bass with us on tour since 2022.
